Then, your car breaks down…or you have an unexpected medical emergency that leaves you drowning in debt. Now you have a choice: pay your bill or feed your family. In Vermillion, this is an everyday occurrence. With a poverty rate of over 35%, and a food insecurity rate that is nearly double that of our neighboring counties (17%), financial insecurity is commonplace.Read more

We're so excited to add Catherine Johnson to the United Way of Vermillion team as Community Impact Director, starting today!
A 2003 graduate of USD, Catherine returned to Vermillion with her family in 2016. She has a passion for helping others, and previously worked as Case Manager for Pathways Shelter for the Homeless in Yankton. In her spare time Catherine enjoys photography and spending time with her family, including her new puppy, Ziggy.
